The Calcu Vineyards and Viña Maquis share a winery in Palmilla in the Colchagua Valley for making and ageing their wines. The winery was built in 2002 under a sustainable concept using gravity technology to allow the grapes and musts to move gently in order to better preserve the aromas and flavours of each of its wines.Equipped with an innovative geothermal plant, it is the only winery in Chile that uses this type of energy for its wine production. Thanks to this initiative, they were recognised by the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce as they reduced their gas consumption by 90% and electricity consumption by 40% per litre of wine produced.
TASTING NOTES
This deep and shiny velvety-red coloured wine stands out for its delicate aromas of flowers like violets and fresh red fruit. In the mouth, it is concentrated, elegant, and beautifully balanced with along, fresh and fruity finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It pairs well with grilled steak, barbecued ribs, and roast pork. It also goes nicely with rich vegetable dishes like ratatouille or stuffed peppers. Hard cheeses like aged cheddar or Manchego make a great match too.
